Restaurants in Bugis probably don’t raise an eyebrow to most – but Ginett Singapore, opened in February 2017, at 200 Middle Road. Ginett is an ideal spot to dine and wine, mingle and make new friends in the city.
The extensive wine list doesn’t reflect a lack in focus, but a carefully curated one where many wine specials have been kept from replacement with feedback of regulars. Like 2016 Mont Thabor (Cotes Du Rhone)($50), it paired with our meal perfectly. Don’t miss that out if you’re doing mostly red meats, which Ginett Singapore has a good range of.
Prior to the mains, 2 bowls of French onion soup ($14) were served. Combined beef consumme with croutons, it literally bursts with loads of flavours.
Weighing with strong and bold flavours, the slow-cooked lamb shank ($32) injects with distinctive flavours to cover the heaviness.
The portions are rather huge from dish to dish. Though the lamb shank is a main that my dining companion and I thoroughly enjoyed, we thought the prime cut (tenderloin) ($42) was overly salted though the grill caramelizes the fat on the surface.
A list of 9 desserts line the food menu. The apple croustillant ($14) does not fail our expectations. It packs loads of apple cinnamon and rains into the fine crunchy dough, topping away with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. It has to be one of my favourites ever.
Verdict: Ginett Singapore is definitely having a good list of wine to go for! The dining atmosphere of the restaurant works great for a business lunch if you’re looking for one to impress within Bugis.
