The group has most certainly chosen a location that’s differing from others, it sets in Singapore’s cultural district – Little India. So when the Les Amis Group begun a new wave of Izakaya like JINzakaya, our anticipation was huge. Situated near Farrer Park MRT, we loved the colorful decor that depicted refurnished old Tokyo train station travern.
JINzakaya is not just an Izakaya sake bar, it dishes out unique small plates like Sake Tataki, affordably priced at $12.00. A good bowl of ramen doesn’t need to be hot. We enjoyed their cold Hiyashi Chuka Ramen (served with a drink, $12.80). The crabmeat, shredded chicken, salmon roe were deliciously flavoured with tangy ramen noodles.
JINzakaya offers an electic mix of affordable set lunches from rice (donburi) to sandwiches (sando) to salads (sarada). The Jin Shabu Shabu Buta comes with thinly sliced pork that pairs so well with the homemade Goma and peanut dressing ($12.80).
Allow resident Chef Patrick Peh and his team to further elevate your senses, the meat skewers were mostly delicious and fresh. Most start from $2.50 from the basic. For unique choices, go for Foie Gras or Ox Tongue (Gyutan), each at $9.50.
To complete the Izakaya identity, don’t feel shy to try their good series of sake like their fruit-based sake – Amabaki Blood Orange and Tenzan Yuzu (priced at $12 per glass).
There would be some hits and misses for their meat skewers, but this cool and trendy JINzakaya did win our hearts with its fun dining concept.
