Starting from solo running to joining group runs after my Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon Half Marathon journey, it really took a brave heart to step into the run club scene.
Why? For many amateur runners, there’s always that indirect but build-up stress — wondering if you can keep up with experienced runners, worrying about pace, fitness, or even just fitting into their group dynamics.
But growth starts when you get slightly uncomfortable.
So I decided to explore the running community more deeply by joining experiences with 7 different major run clubs across Singapore. First up, we have Run JPG – Jolly Pace Group.
They’ve always embraced a laid-back, non-competitive approach to running, which is why they coined the term Jolly Pace to reflect their easy-going pace.

It’s about enjoying the journey, staying active, and supporting one another along the way, no matter your speed.
From Casual Runners to Marathoners – They started out running purely for the fun of it. Their first big challenge? The Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon, which was a huge milestone for their group. But what began as a fun, casual run quickly transformed into something more as they challenged themselves to push the boundaries.
From there, things really took off. Their members began signing up for bigger races and competing in the World Marathon Majors. The prestigious series of marathons in cities like New York, Boston, Chicago, Berlin, London, and Tokyo. They’re incredibly proud to say that their JPG members have now completed these major marathons, with some running multiple Majors over the years.
How It Begins
Founded in 2019 in Singapore by Hibshamir and Luqman, Run Jolly Pace Group (Run.JPG) began as a group of friends running purely for fun. Their mission was simple: to create a space where everyone could enjoy running, no hard rules, fast-frills.
Run Route & Schedule
Every week, they meet at Chinatown and set off for one of the most scenic running routes in Singapore, the Marina Bay Area. The breathtaking views of the skyline, the Marina Bay Sands, and the Singapore Flyer make this route a favorite for all of us. It’s more than just a run; it’s about soaking in the atmosphere, enjoying the company, and motivating each other to finish strong.

What to Expect
Fun & Inclusive: No matter how fast or slow you are, they run together at a comfortable pace, ensuring no one is left behind. It’s all about having a good time and supporting each other.
Community-Focused: They are passionate about “Make Sports a Daily Habit”. Their group is a place where anyone, regardless of their fitness level, can join in and feel like part of a supportive community.
Laid-Back & Social: They believe in running for the joy of it, not the competition. Join us for the fun, the fitness, and the friendships!
Review
I joined them for 2 consecutive runs and events — and honestly, their vibes really lit up some of my lowest moments while trying to rebuild my pace again after April’s HYROX Singapore Relay race. What stood out most wasn’t about who ran the fastest. It was the PEOPLE. They are so encouraging, that club’s energy speaks volume.
