Boracay is a tropical gem situated in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. Boasting crystalline waters and sparkling white powdered sand, the island is a popular destination for beach-loving tourists. With its increased commercialisation, it can be hard to escape the hustle and bustle of tourists and local vendors. Just 10 mins away from D’mall, Fairways & Bluewater Resort offers the perfect tranquil getaway experience on the island.
A Golfer’s Paradise
Upon entering the resort, you are instantly greeted by the vast landscape and size of the compound. Featuring the only golf course on Boracay, an 18-hole championship course designed by Graham Mars, the resort’s properties are built encircling the grand centrepiece.
The spacious check-in lobby and reception area.
Comforts of a Home
The one-bedroom suite provides the comforts of a home with amenities including a kitchen, dining and living room area. There is also a large balcony area that overlooks the golf course providing a perfect spot to relax or simply appreciate the lush greenery. The suite is incredibly spacious and offers additional features such as a walk-in wardrobe, storage room and guest bathroom.
There is nothing better to end a busy day than a therapeutic massage session. The in-room services available are fairly priced and the staff from the resort’s spa are very skilled and professional.
Pampered for Dining Options
Fairways & Bluewater Resort offers a myriad of dining options; however, do expect some of the restaurants to be closed during the low seasons. It is very tempting to never leave the resort with the selection of restaurants available. I do personally recommend La Terraza which features a fusion of local cuisine alongside western favourites. The staff are always attentive and the food is delicious.
Breakfast is normally served in a Buffet with a good variety comprising of a continental spread, local cooked food, an omelette station, cereals and fruits.
A Treasure Trove of Experiences
The facilities and activities available at Fairways & Bluewater are endless; from zip-lining, water sports to horse riding. The resort caters to families, couples or even solo travellers.
If activities are not really your thing, spend a relaxing afternoon by one of the many swimming pools. There are 2 infinity pools overlooking the coastline.
There are also many smaller gathering areas that provide majestic views.
The best part of my stay had to be the resort’s private beach. A postcard worthy attraction, the beach is strictly for guests only. This means reading a book or taking a tanning nap uninterrupted. The resort provides towels, beach toys and instagram worthy floats for use too!
Tucked at at the corner of the beach is the beach bar that offers refreshing drinks and snacks, completing that perfect beach getaway experience.
Due to the size of the resort, there are shuttle services on demand to take you to the various facilities. There is also a separate shuttle that takes guests to D’Mall, the main commercial area of Boracay.
Things To Do Around Boracay
Here are the top suggestions to complete your island paradise experience!
Dining – TITOS (Resto & Grill), https://www.facebook.com/Titos.RestoGrill
Located along White Beach, this restaurant features a contemporary take on local cuisine. A light casual dining concept that has amazing food and excellent service. I strongly recommend the popular Carbonara Pizza and Watermelon with Chicken Soup.
Nightlife
Boracay offers a plethora of nightlife options with live entertainment. The best way to explore the nighlife scene is to join the pub crawl tour on the island which allows you to make new friends over a lot of free drinks. Alternatively, do explore the Shisha Bars along White Beach. We found one near Station 1 that uses alcohol and milk as bases. Also, do look out for the exciting fire dancers!
Paraw Sailing
Paraw Sailing is an iconic feature of Boracay. The experience is like being on a hammock at sea and provides exhilarating speeds and splashes as you get carried over the waves. It is recommended that you pick a timeslot towards the end of the day as you would be treated to a magnificient, magical sunset.
Verdict
Fairways & Bluewater Resort is quite an ideal sanctuary from the heavy human traffic in Boracay. While the rooms do need some updating on decor, the comfort level is nonetheless impeccable. The prices seem to vary greatly during the year based on tourism seasons so it is useful to check for existing promotions. The main advantage of the resort is the convenience. With so many activities and facilities within the resort, guests can easily enjoy themselves without the hassle of travelling to other parts of the island.
