Our team continue to hunt for good drinking places.. If you ever wander around the shophouses at a corner from Keong Saik Road, you might come across Phat Cat Laundry. Bar and restaurant Phat Cat Laundry enters the Jiak Chuan Road scene putting a modern spin on Asian fusion casual dining.
Housed in a shophouse, it features a playful entrance with a sense of retro chic. This makes the space ideal for lounging and mingling among small groups.
Re-defining Food-centricity in a Food-centric District
Their food menu features a modern presentation of familiar Asian flavours in dishes that are good for sharing. The restaurant area is organised into intimate spaces where parties of 2-4 can enjoy their dining and engage in good conversation.
We had the smashed cucumber salad (S$12), a salad that is filled with lightly pickled cucumbers and curried yogurt dressing. It has just the right amount of sweetness and is very refreshing. Definitely, a good starter to start the night with.
The mapo chicken wings (S$14) is a special starter where the chicken wings are dressed with their special Phat Cat Mapo Sauce. The sauce provides a deep and rich taste to the entire dish while the wings have a very crispy texture.
A visit to Phat Cat Laundry must be accompanied by the mammoth pork knuckle tacos (S$36) that is oh so extremely crispy. The sauces are great to fill in while it tastes just nice without being overpowering. The pork knuckle pairs amazingly well with cocktails.
We tried something different this time – cocoa mango. This cocktail has just the right amount of sweetness and is very refreshing. Definitely, a good drink to start the night with.
You will also find cocktails inspired by a classic mandopop song, like their forget-love water (S$26). The drink is super tasty. And it is made with ugni blanc gin, sea salt, butterfly pea flowers and… magic.
Verdict
If you are looking for a nice place to relax and have a few foods and drinks, keep a look out for Phat Cat Laundry along Jiak Chuan Road.
