Nothing like a magnificent ocean view to welcome you, InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort was like a dream destination across all the resorts I had been to in the region, nothing has come close – yet.
InterContinental Samui outperformed in more aspects than one, and here’s why you should go for.
The Ocean View – A View That’s More Than Worth Its Value
Flying to Koh Samui is rather straightforward, we took Bangkok Airways (about 1.5 hours), and there are many budget alternatives to reach the destination.
Located on the western coast of Thailand, Koh Samui is Thailand’s third biggest island. When entering the lobby of the main house, I was immediately drawn to the magical vista over the Gulf of Thailand.
I was ushered to a colonial-like lounge with its high open ceiling to welcome the breeze. Totally immersed into the intriguing and unobstructed view over the gulf, this was the perfect frame of relaxation.
The Accommodation – A Sanctuary Heaven That You Simply Want To Idle Your Time Away In
There are 9 types on the property, the Ocean View Room, the Family Room, the Club Premier Ocean View Room, the Honeymoon Ocean View suite and many more. There are all 79 superbly appointed guest rooms, suites and villas, created with the guests’ need for privacy in mind.
The room’s color scheme is calm and warm, playing around with hues of earthy and light Thai tones for the touch of inspired beach art. The place is more than comfortable to fit a family of four, and saying it spacious will be an understatement.
There’s a rain shower, a tub for soaking and one of my favourites will be the toiletries from HARNN.
What really sold it for me is that the room is surrounded by a beautiful backdrop of the tropical greens and vistas over the gulf. And if you don’t want to get out of your room, indulge in some afternoon tea by the balcony.
The Weekend Holiday Difference at InterContinental Samui
There are many, many amazing spots around the resort where you can explore.
You can laze by the jacuzzi jets or embrace the infinity pool with an impressive view of endless coconut tree plantations and tranquil fishermen’s villages. For once, embrace the infinity pool experience all to yourself.
There is another splendid pool by the coastline, with many other coloured pools dotted around the resort.
You can opt to end your day by watching the sunset at the hotel’s Air Bar. Star gazing as you dine, this is also the best place to combine laid-back dining with a romantic setting. The view was totally mesmerizing and elegant.
Awaken Your Palate at Amber with a Refreshing Breakfast Spread
A buffet breakfast at Amber (InterContinental Samui’s main restaurant) is the palate opener for the day, and the restaurant boasts a splendid breakfast with the calming sounds of the ocean.
Lunch at Amber was a la carte, and there was a good range of Thai food mains to choose from. The mains were so humongous that you could definitely share.
I had sweet and savoury green curry with rice, and my travel companion had the spicy good pad thai. The pricey mains did surpass our expectations.
A Galore of Leisure Activities
Most leisure activities revolve around water sports like the abundant underwater world snorkeling or scuba diving, or you can start an active day with sunrise yoga on the beach.
Food lovers will relish the chance to learn about the intricacies of Thai cuisine with a trip to the local morning market followed by a cooking class with one of the resort’s knowledgeable chefs.
Verdict
The Intercontinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort expedite was one that I enjoyed at my best. A really well-thought out holiday that covers a good spectrum of needs for that weekend escape.
It is really difficult to forget this wonderful stay experience, and I will definitely return for more trips to Intercontinental Samui. And who can forget the beautiful glow of the gulf that bids the day goodbye?
