Affordable air fares have transformed the aviation industry and shaken up the tourist industry. It has also shaken the nerves of many a traveller that is allotted a less than generous luggage allowance and given no quarter given when the baggage weight exceeds the limit. Cabin Zero launches its very own revolution by creating the only bag the traveller will ever need to even consider when packing for a flight. It is the perfect go to bag when you live life to the fullest and are constantly on the move. These bags have 3 very important features: it conforms to airline overhead cabin maximum dimensions, it is designed to make the most of every square of space and, it successfully marries both form and function. The specs are plain to see from all the marketing material available online about the bag and it’s even emblazoned on the tag but the real proof of the pudding is in actually taking it out into the big big world.
Traveller’s Everyday/ Everywhere Companion
Having adapted the bag for my daily activities, I found that it easily takes over the tasks of the individual bags that I had to use before. Although marketed as a convenient “go-to” backpack that fits in an overhead compartment of an airplane, the cabin zero is at heart a traveller’s bag and adapt even on terra ferma.
The best thing about Cabin Zero is that it is fun. Every time I pick it up, I know that the next few days will be fun filled ones. Even the most mundane excursion into the mall lined concrete jungle while on a family holiday became quite an adventure. The one thing I hate doing on these trips is carrying unwieldy bags of groceries and shopping but the Cabin Zero and its spacious interior can accommodate it all without you looking like a harried husband or boyfriend.
When I go for work or on one of my solo trips around Asia, it usually involves quite a bit of gear. The cameras, equipment, medicine and change of clothes has to fit on my back. It also has to fit in the overhead compartment of the plane as there is no way I can travel with a trolley bag. The Cabin Zero makes packing a lot easier as I know everything that I can cram in there will be allowed on the plane. I have put my whole camera drone inside with ease, I have gone for motorcycling trips where all my luggage fit into the bag and was then easily lashed into the seat of the two wheeler.
Cabin Zero’s Handy Features
It may sound like the Cabin Zero is one large sack with shoulder straps but one of the best thing about it are the many thoughtful features that make it the perfect travel companion. I like the waist and chest straps alot. They make carrying the backpack a lot easier and more comfortable as it distributes the load from just solely on the shoulders to the back, waist and the chest.
The bag is also splash proof and rain proof to an extent – without a rain cover. However, it will not keep the ocean out if you throw it into the deep blue sea or if you take a stroll in a tropical deluge. On the side is a strange looking metal tab that doesn’t seem to have any utility. You can’t loop strap through it or hang something from it. Turns out, it is an identification tag by OKOBAN. When you register your tag, your item will be tacked to your name and contact details. This will then form part of a the largest network of lost and found offices in the world – used by over 400 airlines, in more than 2200 airports. So, if I ever lose my bag, it probably stands a higher chance of being found than any other without this tag.
It is obvious that a lot of thought went into the design of this bag. Between creating as much space as possible and sewing on as many useful compartments, the craftsmen at Cabin Zero took the most streamlined approach. This results in a bag with all the right bells and whistles but not at the expense of its true design mission. Inside the main compartment, there is a large sleeve to fit a laptop snugly in the padded compartment. On the outside, there is another to slip in last minute essentials like a wallet or passport. Otherwise, the layout is completely minimalistic. I do with though that there was at least 1 pouch on the side to fit a water bottle. However, the many straps for hooking things on can serve this purpose just as well.
To round off the whole package, there are large lockable zips that are easy to find in the dark, to quickly access and very durable. If you are serious about your travels, you don’t want to be missing this gem in your collection. Pick one up here. Get 10% off with the code CZGOLDENGOH .
